High School Pathways

Austin Community College, TX
BABEC, CA

Our Hub team includes members from Austin Community College (ACC) and the nonprofit BABEC.

At ACC, we support the Texas Biotechnology Pathway, which has guided students from high school to college and industry for over 20 years. Built on industry-validated standards, updated curriculum, faculty support, diverse recruitment, and competency testing, this pathway can be replicated in your school, district, or state.

At BABEC, we provide lab and lesson resources to introduce biotechnology in science classes like biology, living earth, and chemistry. We run one of the nation’s largest kit-sharing networks and offer training to help teachers implement hands-on biotech labs.

  • Provide professional development and mentoring for teachers.
  • Share strategies to bridge biotech pathways from high school to community college.
  • Provide skill-standards-based curriculum for dual credit biotechnology programs.
  • Share curriculum resources that introduce biotech to general high school science classes.
  • Connect teachers with other biotechnology programs in your region and across the nation.
  • Help establish third party testing and competency badging.
